I was lucky enough recently to be invited along by a neighbour to watch him hunt his falcons. We were hunting pheasant over his britany spaniel. We headed out to a place we knew held some pheasants and up went the gyr/peregrine falcon. The falcon climbed and climbed until it was only a dot in the sky and then hovered directly over us. The dog was doing his do looking for pheasants in the field below and then he set. There was a pheasant in front of us in the undergrowth! As the pheasant got up the falcon swooped, I couldnt believe the speed of the bird as it came out of the heavens. We were lucky enough to get another pheasant up before we called it a day and we saw the falcon swoop once more. Amazing!
